The Instituto Modelo de Enseñanza Individualizada, (better known by it’s acronym I.M.E.I.), operates as a non-profit organization which offers therapeutic and educational services to both Regular Program and Special Education students.
The Institute is located on #205-#215 Arizmendi St., San Juan Puerto Rico. The school grounds have become a vital component of a bigger community, shared by civil and religious authorities, professional places of business, other educational institutions and residents.
The humble beginnings of the Institute date back to the year 1975. Originally, the Institute began as an elementary school. By 1980, the school grounds became sufficient to offer services to middle school students. Finally by 1987, the Institute began offering enrollment to high school students up to 12th grade.
The Institute has the support of highly qualified professionals in both education and therapeutic fields of knowledge.
The Academic Program responds to the interests of the students, not only within academic areas, but also within extracurricular activities as well. Our Educational Program is based on the Puerto Rico Department of Education Curriculum and its excellence standards, in order to prepare students for the challenges of a college education, whether it is in academic or technical areas of expertise.
It is the hope of the Institute that every student develops a strong knowledge of self in order to enable each to identify their strengths and needs as they come across life’s daily challenges. Also, the school strives to empower each student with perseverance and high self-esteem; to develop the confidence necessary to embark on new undertakings. They will develop the ability to analyze all alternatives related to all of life’s important decisions with wisdom, patience and foresight; to ensure personal satisfaction and joy in their personal and professional lives.
